Deep Coaching

For Executives who want to go deeper

Most coaching starts with questions like:

  • What do you want to achieve?

  • What would you like to be different?

  • What are you going to do about it?

Of course, such questions have their place, and can give us direction and help us to make things happen.

But sometimes there is a deeper enquiry. There may be something else going on. You may be facing a difficult decision or a significant transition, or you may have the sense that the way you have been doing things for a long time is no longer right for where you are now.

This is where I think coaching can go deeper.

Rather than rushing to work out what to do, we can spend some time exploring what is actually going on. We can look at what you might not be seeing, what you have come to take for granted, and what might become possible if you looked at things differently.

Work can ask a lot of us. We become good at performing our roles, meeting expectations and getting things done, but it can be easy to lose touch with other parts of ourselves in the process.

For me, this is part of what coaching to the soul means. It is not something separate from the realities of work and leadership, but a space to explore who we are and the lives we lead, both in and out of the workplace, so that we can live richer more meaningful lives.
